Why Did I Become a Leadership Consultant?

My journey to becoming a Leadership consultant has been profoundly shaped by my experiences with inconsistent, self-preserving, and inauthentic Leaders. Throughout my career, I encountered individuals who relentlessly prioritised mission objectives over the welfare of their teams.
This approach not only stifled creativity and motivation but also eroded the very foundations of trust and respect within the workplace.
In recent years, we've seen an explosion of amusing reels across social media platforms that poke fun at the absurd scenarios employees face daily. While these clips often provide a good laugh, the underlying truth is sobering: the challenges depicted are no longer humorous when they impact our morale, engagement, and the basic values that are increasingly hard to find in society.
I've witnessed Leaders who take their teams for granted, failing to acknowledge genuine hard work. They don’t encourage growth in the face of failure; instead, they create an environment where mistakes are met with criticism rather than constructive feedback.
These Leaders hoard success, rarely sharing credit with those who contribute to the team’s achievements. Their default mode of operation often resembles a punitive framework: “If you don’t do what I want, in the way I want you to do it, then you will be punished.”
Those in followership often find themselves in a desperate position, striving to form genuine alliances and foster organic loyalty between Leaders and team-mates. Many attempt to contribute their unique creativity, only to be patronised, marginalised, or utterly ignored.
We are on the cusp of a mindset shift, realising that this status quo is untenable. This is why Leadership Consultancy is no longer a luxury or a "nice-to-have." It has become a necessity for individuals seeking fulfilment and for insightful organisations aiming to thrive in a competitive landscape.
As I observed these dynamics, I realised that I wanted to make a difference. I became a Leadership Consultant to help organisations cultivate authentic leaders who prioritise the well-being of their teams.
My goal is to empower Leaders to embrace vulnerability, acknowledge their teams’ contributions, and create environments where everyone feels valued. I believe that true Leadership is about lifting others up, fostering collaboration, and building a culture where everyone can thrive.
In a world where the absurdities of workplace dynamics are often exaggerated for comedic effect, I am committed to transforming those challenges into opportunities for growth and genuine connection. Together, we can redefine Leadership in a way that inspires and uplifts—not just for the sake of the mission, but for the sake of the people who drive it.
